Come explore Sicily with Us!

Sicily, the largest Mediterranean island, is just off the “toe” of Italy’s “boot.” Its rich history is reflected in sites like the Valley of the Temples, the well-preserved ruins of 7 monumental, Doric-style Greek temples, and in the Byzantine mosaics at the Cappella Palatina, a former royal chapel in capital city Palermo. On Sicily’s eastern edge is Mount Etna, one of Europe’s highest active volcanoes.

**Please note, these adventures are planned far in advance, and sometimes things come up that are unforeseen or unplanned. With that forethought, know the group will be accompanied on this adventure by Keith, or Michelle, and/or My1FitLife Ambassador. Activities on the itinerary are subject to change based on guides, weather, availability, etc. **

Itinerary

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN CATANIA / SYRACUSE

Arrive in Catania and meet your private driver for the approximately 1-hour transfer to Syracuse. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. In the evening, enjoy a welcome group dinner (time TBD).

DAY 2 – PANTALICA & ANAPO VALLEY TREKKING

Meet your English-speaking guide and explore Pantalica and the Valle dell’Anapo Nature Reserve, one of eastern Sicily’s most fascinating natural and archaeological areas. Discover dramatic river canyons, breathtaking landscapes, ancient rock-cut necropolises, and the remains of settlements dating back to the Bronze Age. Explore the Ferla entrance, the Sella di Filiporto necropolis, the remains of the Prince’s Palace, Byzantine village ruins, and ancient rock oratories with frescoes before descending toward the Calcinara stream.

After the tour, transfer to Ragusa by minibus, including a winery visit.

DAY 3 – OLIVE OIL EXPERIENCE, TASTING & LUNCH

Meet your English-speaking Tour Leader and visit an historic olive oil farmhouse. Explore the olive grove and learn about local cultivars and traditional harvesting techniques. Visit the 18th-century farm and Olive Oil Room to discover the complete production process, from harvesting through bottling. Enjoy a tasting of three farm-produced olive oils, followed by a three-course lunch with mineral water and local wine. Return to Syracuse after lunch.

DAY 4 – MOUNT ETNA HIKING, WINE TASTING & LIGHT LUNCH

Depart early with your English-speaking Tour Leader for Mount Etna. From Piano Provenzana at 1,800 meters, take a 4x4 vehicle to the high mountain slopes and explore volcanic landscapes shaped by the 2002 eruption. Hike along the 2002 craters and continue by off-road vehicle to approximately 2,900 meters, where a further hike leads to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking Etna’s extraordinary volcanic environment and surrounding landscapes. Visibility and access may vary depending on weather and volcanic conditions.

After descending to Piano Provenzana, meet your private driver and transfer to a winery for a light lunch.

DAY 5 – SYRACUSE TO RAGUSA & RAGUSA CITY TOUR

After breakfast, check out and transfer from Syracuse to Ragusa by minibus. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel. Later, explore Ragusa with a local guide. Discover the enchanting historic district of Ragusa Ibla, with its medieval lanes, St. George’s Gate, the Baroque Basilica of St. George, and the peaceful Ibleo Gardens offering beautiful valley views.

DAY 6 – RAGUSA & OPTIONAL BIKE TOUR

Enjoy a day exploring Ragusa and the surrounding area. An optional loop bike tour begins and ends in Ragusa Ibla, traveling through scenic countryside and visiting Giarratana, the smallest town in the province of Ragusa, and Monterosso Almo, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, before returning through Upper Ragusa. Please note that summer temperatures can make cycling particularly challenging.

DAY 7 – MODICA CHOCOLATE WORKSHOP

Discover the 400-year-old tradition of Modica chocolate. Visit a local chocolate factory for a tasting and participate in a hands-on workshop to learn how this famous chocolate is made. Take home the chocolate bars you create as a delicious souvenir.

DAY 8 – DEPARTURE

After breakfast, check out and transfer from Ragusa to Catania Airport, approximately 2 hours away. Please book a departing flight after 4:00 PM.
